Geometry in the park

I'll be missing this park soon, it will be farther and I won't be seeing it too often.

Zorita Sunsets

Sunsets are between yesterday and tomorrow. They are the goodbye greeting of used hours, the promise of the mysterious night, the silent talk of darkness, the expectation of the new day.
Something of the peace kept for tired souls escapes through the last rays.

herbs at home

Humble herbs brought home to get used to our place in order to restore mind, health, life. It won't be the final pot, but they are getting into contact with the light, the air, the general atmosphere in our balcony.
They are soothing and alive, something much needed at home just now. They breathe by us and accompany our reading moments, even our sadness. Caring is good.

Humble heroes

As you might have heard, we have really bad floods this summer, the worst in the last 40 years, not only on small rivers but also on the Danube and its main in-coming rivers. It's been raining a lot, every day for almost a month and it does not seem to stop. A few tens of people died and 20.000 left their houses, but the unusual thing is that big towns by the Danube were flooded too.
Galati is one of them, a big town and an important port. We like it there, for some reasons. It was partly flooded and a high flood was approaching, so a disaster was feared, despite the piers that were being built to avoid it. Voluntaries came from all over to work for that, the authorities were seeking another solution, even a controlled flooding of a nearby area, but it would have meant more damage. It was growing worse because both the Danube and a big in-coming river were overflowing simultaneously.
As the prime-minister was inspecting the area, one of the voluntary workers approached him and told him he had worked for 10 years at the artificial channel connecting the Danube to the sea, and he knew there was a particular lock there, between very different water levels. If that was open, he said, it could take part of the exceeding flow.
The ministry was reticent at first, but then the suggestion was put into practice and proved right. The lock could overtake 500 cubic meters per second, which was enough for the moment.
The red code for floods is not over, it might take as long as one more month to be out of danger, but that particular moment was surpassed. Thanks to a simple suggestion, made by someone who knew the facts not from diagrams, but from real life and work. The question is: why did not specialists think of that?

The Tree of Tears

I'll just tell the story without commenting it. I hope you like it. I'm sorry if I'm not good with words, I'm very tired- a lot of work for me these days.

Once upon a time, a young girl got married to a man living in another village. She was very unhappy because she could not get along with her husband and her in-laws.
One day, her mother came to visit and was deeply concerned to see the look on the young woman's face. As they could not talk in the husband's house, they went into the nearby forest, sat under a young green tree and the daughter opened her heart and wept out her pain.
Her mother said: I will go home soon. Since you will have nobody to talk to, you must promise me to come here at least once a week and tell this young tree about all your troubles, and sit here by it until you feel better and able to cope with everything.
After a few months, maybe even longer, the mother came to visit again and to her surprise found her daughter looking much better. They went to talk to the same place in the woods, and she asked if things had improved in her daughter's life.
No, the daughter said, but when I feel really down, I come here and tell it all to this tree, and then I feel my heart so much lighter.
The mother looked up to he tree with grateful eyes and only then did she notice that the tree that had been so full of life last time was now dying.
