Surrounded

Our old towns have become surrounded by our modern societies. New buildings, supermarkets, roads, parking-lots have grown around churches, palaces, cathedrals.
Sometimes, aesthetics rules have been followed. Others, business interests have won.
So, the result is not the same for all our old towns.
Can art and history coexist with our shopping centres and blocks of houses?
Look for examples in your town to answer the question

I think that the supermarkets and block of houses around the cities are the symbol of present times and after some time they will also be the history of these times. Some ancient buidings also coexisted with Rannaisance buildings or Gothic ones and they still do.

Yes, but when they hide a monument or when they have a completely different architectural style they have a bad impact on the whole area. I think that the old parts of a town , if they have a certain historical and cultural importance, should be kept as they are, without the intrusion of the present
