Anniversary Trip

In 1986, when the staying in NATO poll was held, we voted by mail and went on a trip to Oropesa.
We liked the small village, el Parador, the landscape around and the people. I was given a revival of this moment for our 24th anniversay. Here are some moments.
Places have changed because a lot of restauration work has ben done, but the general atmosphere remains the same. and I liked it again.

It looks like the perfect getaway, with lots of sun and shadow, romantic old buildings and nights. I wish you 24 more happy anniversaries, and then a lot more.
Can you tell me what "parador" means? And why the hanging remains in a cage? was it a local dragon? :)Do you still see geometry? :)
Thanks for sharing.

24 anniversaries more than this is going to be too much1, I'm afraid we have no so much time! Anyway, this one was great.
Paradores is a state lodgings net. They are old mansions, castles, big houses, palaces, even modern constructions with special charm. They started when tourism began to be an economical resource but there were not good hotels in Spain. It was not a bad idea, because heritage has been preserved and at the same time the offer for lodgings improved a lot.
The remains, of course, is just decoration to remind medieval times when justice was much more bloody.
And yes, I still see geometry, it must be an infection!

Hey, you! Geometry is not a germ! :) Seeing Math underneath reality is a state of mind, actually I heard a nice conference about the different way of thinking that knowing Math gives- but maybe it was just professional pride.
By the way, 24 more years is not much, you can think of couples who have had that long. My grandparents were married for 70 years. Don't be afraid!

you're wrong, it's not a professional pride, it's a reality. Believe it or not, geometry was the only part of Maths I liked when I did it at school, or perhaps it was because the teacher was better than the other ones. It is a funny germ in my case, not a dangerous one!
Have a good Sunday!

I am a bit worried: are you nostalgic about the times when justice was bloodier? Should I think twice if I ever have the oportunity to be in Avila again? :)
It's a busy Sunday: lately we are having TWO week-end dinner guests. I suppose you can guess why.

Here are funny quotes on mathematicians, if you know one you want to tease http://www.onlinemathlearning.com/mathematicians-math-quotes.html
I like these ones:
“There are three kinds of mathematicians; those who can count and those who can't.”
"It is easier to square a circle than to get round a mathematician."
